Lahore, Pakistan – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Saeed Afridi has announced that he will visit the homes of party leaders who are currently in custody, in a show of solidarity. Addressing the media in Lahore, Afridi stated that the government’s responsibility lies in engaging in dialogue with the opposition, while his duty is to lead the street movement. The chief minister has shared a list of his delegation with the Assembly Security, and is expected to meet with opposition members in the Punjab Assembly.
Afridi and his delegation visited the homes of PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, and Azeem Daudpota in Lahore. He also met with Qureshi’s son, Zain Qureshi, and daughter, Mehr Bano Qureshi. Mustafa Kamal, a senior leader of MQM, has stated that he has not spoken to the PTI leadership for two years, as the party’s founder is a “drama-loving person.” Kamal has also said that the founder of PTI should remain in Adiala Jail, which is a historic prison.
Talking to the press, Talal Chaudhry, a senior leader of the PML-N, expressed concerns about the meeting between the PTI leadership and the government, stating that the party wants the PTI to return to the “Good Times” (Guddi) and that this is not possible. Governor Sindh, Kamran Tessori, has stated that the government will adopt the same approach with PTI that was adopted with MQM.
