Kesha is opening up to her fans about a previously unknown chapter of her personal life.
The pop star recently shared details about her former fiancé during an episode of SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up.
The 38-year-old “Tik Tok” hitmaker explained that her own songs played a crucial role in her decision to end the engagement, revealing that the songwriting process brought her clarity.
“Basically, I find that writing songs leads me to my truth,” she began in the interview.
Without revealing the identity of her former fiancé, the award-winning singer disclosed, “I was engaged and I didn’t wanna be anymore, and I didn’t even realize that I was gonna break up with him until I wrote a song about it. Then I listened back to it, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, I’m gonna break up with him now.’”
She continued, “It led me to my truth ’cause I can’t lie in the song. You can’t lie in a song. For one, your song will suck, but also, that’s not what it’s there for, you know?”
Kesha has been romantically linked to Brad Ashenfelter, Michael Gilvary, and Riccardo Maddalosso in the past.
