As the world welcomes the new year, Ali Raza Syed, Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe, has expressed hope that difficulties faced by the Kashmiri people will decrease in the coming year. He believes that the international community will understand their plight and support their struggle for self-rule.
In a statement, Syed said that the Kashmiri people are fighting for their right to self-rule, which has been suppressed by India for decades through oppression. He urged the Kashmiri people to remain steadfast and not lose hope, while emphasizing that their sacrifices will not go in vain.
Syed also called upon the international community to implement the UN resolutions on the Kashmir dispute and find a peaceful and acceptable solution to the issue. He emphasized that the global community should exert pressure on India to release Kashmiri political prisoners and human rights activists, end human rights violations against the Kashmiri people, and withdraw its forces from occupied Kashmir.
Syed specifically demanded the release of Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, and Khurram Parvez, who have been languishing in Indian jails for years on false charges. He reiterated that until the Kashmiri people achieve freedom from India, they will continue their struggle.
In a separate incident, the Swiss police revealed that a bomb explosion occurred on Thursday morning at around 1:30 am when people were attending a New Year’s party at a nightclub.
