Karachi: The University of Karachi has approved a Grade-16 position for the sister of Aniqah Saeed, a student of the Department of Social Work who lost her life in a university bus accident on October 11.
The decision was made during the university’s syndicate meeting held on Saturday. According to university officials, the father of the deceased student had been offered financial compensation, but he declined, requesting instead that his other daughter be given permanent employment to ensure the family’s financial stability.
The syndicate approved the request, granting a Grade-16 position in the Department of Mass Communication to Aniqah’s sister, who recently graduated from the same department.
Meanwhile, an inquiry committee led by Dr Naima Saeed, Chairperson of the Department of Criminology, has begun investigating the bus accident.
Speaking to local media, Dr Saeed said the committee will prepare a detailed report covering the causes of the accident, responsibility assessment, and recommendations for improved safety measures.
The tragic accident occurred on October 11 when a university bus met with an accident on campus, killing student Aniqah Saeed and injuring several others.
