According to the documents, the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) leased the Gul Plaza building to MS Jenika Private Company on November 3, 1991. When asked about the rescue operations, Hamayun Khan, the Chief Fire Officer, stated that it may take up to 15 days to complete the operation.
The documents reveal that the civil government had leased Plot No. 32, Sheet No. PR-1, for 99 years. The KMC document states that the total area of the plot is 8,128 square feet, which was leased to MS Jenika Private Company.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) team, led by senior engineer Arif Qasim of the Pakistan Engineering Council, inspected the damaged area. According to the SBCA officials, a part of the building collapsed, affecting the columns of the adjacent Ramp Plaza. The outer structure of the building has collapsed, affecting the inner structure, and a part of the building has tilted towards Ramp Plaza.
The SBCA officials stated that after securing the area with jack screws, a further inspection of the building will be conducted. The officials also added that the debris from the collapsed building will be removed under the supervision of SBCA experts.
