Karachi — In a continued effort to dismantle criminal networks and restore stability in Karachi, the Sindh Rangers have successfully conducted an intelligence-based operation, resulting in the arrest of five key suspects. This action marks a significant move toward improving the security situation in Pakistan’s largest city.
According to a spokesperson for the Rangers, the individuals arrested were actively involved in numerous incidents of extortion and armed robbery across the metropolitan area. The suspects have been identified as Maaz, Irfanullah Shah, Abdul Ghafoor alias Lal, Karim, and Bilal.
The investigation revealed that this criminal cell operated primarily to collect ‘protection money’ for the infamous Lyari Gang War’s Bilal Pappu Group. They were reportedly extorting cash from various warehouses, traders, and shopkeepers in different localities.
The security forces recovered several items from the suspects, including a dummy pistol, a stolen motorcycle, and written extortion slips. The spokesperson further stated that the suspects, Karim and Bilal, utilized the dummy pistol to intimidate and threaten citizens during multiple robbery attempts.
Rangers are currently conducting raids to apprehend other associates of the arrested group. All five suspects have been handed over to the local police, along with the recovered evidence, for the initiation of further legal proceedings.
