KARACHI: Another fatal traffic accident involving a water tanker has struck Karachi, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and fueling intense public anger over the perceived negligence of tanker drivers. The tragedy occurred near 4K Chowrangi in Surjani Town.
Rescue officials confirmed that the motorcyclist, identified as Abid, was killed instantly after his motorcycle was hit by the water tanker. This incident adds to the growing list of fatal crashes linked to commercial vehicle operations in the metropolitan area.
In the immediate aftermath of the collision, the driver of the water tanker fled the scene, evading capture. Local residents, frustrated by the lack of accountability in recurring accidents, responded with intense fury. The angry mob surrounded the abandoned water tanker and, in an act of protest against driver impunity and administrative failure, set the vehicle ablaze.
This tragedy highlights the severe public safety issues surrounding commercial transport in Karachi and reflects the community’s demand for immediate justice. Police have since initiated investigations into both the fatal collision and the subsequent arson incident.
