Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has assured that the People’s Party’s promise to continue the development journey will remain intact despite the lack of funds. He made this statement at the inauguration of Hassan Ali Hothi Market in Ranchore Line.
“I want to welcome everyone to this 100-year-old historic Hassan Ali Hothi Market,” Mayor Wahab said. “The Karachi Municipal Corporation has taken up the task of improving this historic market, and we have removed encroachments and restored the building. Today, you can proudly say that this is how we have transformed our Karachi, and the Hothi family is still here, and they have also thanked us.”
The mayor further stated that the corporation has restored the Denso Hall and Machi Meeni Market, and plans to restore the Empress Market by January 31. He also initiated the restoration of Le Market.
“This is the authority that we are using to provide facilities to the people, and this is the promise of the People’s Party that the development journey will continue,” Mayor Wahab said. “We are also restoring other markets, and Karachi will spend Rs. 46 billion on various development projects, including the construction of new roads.”
The mayor emphasized that the city’s development is possible only with the love and affection of its people. “The series of love, affection, and development will continue in this way, and the mayor does not lack authority, but the actual issue is the resources, and I am not receiving any funds from the Prime Minister.”
Mayor Wahab highlighted that the corporation has increased its resources, which is why it is able to undertake these projects. He also mentioned that the roads were commercialized during the tenure of former Governor, Muhammad Mian Soomro.
“We have removed the untreated water from the sea, and the plant is operational, and other plants are being constructed,” Mayor Wahab said. “Work is progressing rapidly on the Bhutto Road, and buses are arriving.”
Regarding the restoration of Hassan Ali Hothi Market, the mayor stated that there are two plans for the building, and one of them is a large package. “Could we have celebrated the New Year earlier? The CPEC was closed, and this time, thousands of people have come out.”
The mayor also extended an invitation to Sindh Chief Minister Saeed Ghani, who is scheduled to visit Karachi, to pay a visit to the city.
