Karachi, Pakistan – A strong western wind system has brought a wave of winter to Karachi, with temperatures expected to drop to as low as 7-9 degrees Celsius tonight. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the city has experienced a significant improvement in air quality after the heavy rainfall, which has also led to a pleasant winter weather.
The PMD reported that the western wind system, which entered the city from the northwestern region, brought light to moderate rainfall to various areas of Karachi, including Sheriani Town, Gulshan-e-Maimar, Orangi Town, Musharraf Colony, Malir, Nazimabad, and other neighborhoods.
The rainfall has brought a significant improvement in the city’s air quality, with the PMD reporting a notable decrease in pollution levels. However, the weather is expected to get even colder, with a possibility of a cold wave from Quetta affecting the city tonight.
According to the PMD, the maximum amount of rainfall was recorded in Sheriani Town, with 26.3 mm, followed by North Karachi with 20 mm, and Gulshan-e-Maimar with 17.6 mm. Other areas that received significant rainfall include Bahria Town Phase 5 with 14.2 mm, Saadi Town with 10 mm, and Nazimabad with 6.5 mm.
