Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice (Retd) Thaakat Nisar, has emphasized the importance of the rule of law in the country. While addressing a ceremony, he questioned whether the current generation is doing enough to safeguard the future of the nation. He pointed out that there are three things that are more valuable than life in the coming times – water, justice, and the rule of law.
Justice (Retd) Thaakat Nisar expressed concern over the water crisis facing Pakistan and asked if people are enjoying their fundamental rights today. He pointed out that if basic rights are not being provided, then who is responsible for their restriction? The former Chief Justice highlighted that all judges have taken an oath to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens.
He also emphasized that an election without transparency cannot guarantee the existence of democracy, and asked if any state can survive without a constitution. Justice (Retd) Thaakat Nisar shared that he made all his decisions during his tenure in the interest of the public.
Meanwhile, the PTI has announced that users will be held responsible for the usage of their own SIMs and telecommunication services. The TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) has been continuously targeting Pakistani forces and civilians.
