Acting as the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, the chief justice has appointed Sohail Muhammad Leghari as the council’s new secretary. Mr. Leghari, a district and sessions judge in BPS-22, has been assigned to the role on a deputation basis.
Before this new position, Mr. Leghari served as the registrar of the Sindh High Court, where, according to a statement, he made significant contributions to judicial administration and institutional reforms.
In a related decision, the chief justice also named Fakhar Zaman, a district and sessions judge (BPS-21) from the Peshawar High Court, as the additional registrar for administration at the Supreme Court. Previously, Mr. Zaman held the position of senior director at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad.
According to the official announcement, Mr. Leghari and Mr. Zaman will take on important roles, overseeing the SJC’s secretariat functions and the Supreme Court’s administrative affairs, respectively. The statement highlights that their extensive experience is expected to enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and lead to better service delivery. These appointments reaffirm the judiciary’s commitment to strengthening its institutions, boosting public confidence, and effectively fulfilling its constitutional mandate.
