LAHORE: DS Polo/Rizvi’s and Adamjee Insurance Polo won the opening-day matches of the second Master Paints Jinnah Gold Polo Cup here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday.
Five goals from Max Charlton and four by Hissam Ali Hyder steered DS Polo/Rizvi’s to a 9-6 win against Barry’s. For Barry’s, Ernesto Trotz smashed five goals and Horacio Carlos one but to no avail.
Both the teams struck two goals each in the first chukker. The second chukker was dominated by DS Polo/Rizvi’s who pumped in four goals against one by Barry’s to gain a healthy 6-3 lead. Upholding the lead, the winners finally ended the match by scoring three more while conceding one.
Meanwhile, Adamjee Insurance Polo recorded a facile 9½-5 win against Remounts.
From the winners, which had a half-goal handicap advantage, Juan Ambraggio struck five goals, Waqas Khan hammered a hat-trick and Ramiro Zavelata scored one.
Imran Shahid and Nico Roberts made a brace each while Simon Prado scored one for Remounts.
