Jeremy Renner, widely recognized for his portrayal of Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has decided to speak out regarding serious allegations made by his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco, back in 2019.
The accusations, which included claims of threats of self-harm, were initially dismissed by Renner’s representative in a statement to TMZ. At the time, the representative argued that “The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy,” and characterized Pacheco’s claims as “dramatizations” and a “one-sided account” made with the intention of gaining sole custody of their then-six-year-old daughter.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Renner discussed the stress and the impact of the “clickbait” allegations. He admitted, “Whatever stress I’ve had in life I’ve tried to find a way of laughing through it.”
Renner emphasized the difficulty of “being accused of things you’ve not done,” stating that it “doesn’t feel good to anybody,” especially when those accusations are public. He described the situation as “salaciousness” and “clickbait” that “hurts my feelings and it dehumanizes people.”
Five years later, Renner offered a brief update on his relationship with Pacheco, stating, “[We] get along very well, and we’re in each other’s lives,” calling it “lovely.” He concluded the interview by asserting that “it’s no one’s business.”
