According to a source close to Lopez, 55, the singer and actress filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, without legal representation, marking the end of their attempts to reconcile.
“She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken,” the source told People, emphasizing that despite Lopez’s efforts, the relationship couldn’t be saved. The insider noted that filing for divorce on the second anniversary of their Southern wedding highlighted the depth of their estrangement.
The source added, “It gives her control of the process. It’s good that she did it.”
Lopez officially filed for divorce at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, listing their separation date as April 26, 2024. The couple initially wed in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a larger celebration in Georgia a month later.
