Rising Pakistani actress and model Janice Tessa has candidly revealed a past encounter where she was offered a “situationship” by a married man. The emerging star also shed light on the pervasive issue of color-based discrimination within the local entertainment industry, sharing her experiences of being advised to lighten her complexion for lead roles.
During a recent appearance on a private TV channel’s podcast, Tessa openly discussed various aspects of her life and career. Responding to a question, she disclosed the deceptive “situationship” proposal. She defined the term, popularised by Gen Z, as an intimate association lacking any future commitment, specifically precluding marriage. “While I am part of the showbiz industry, I am not one to engage in such a relationship,” Tessa stated, affirming her clear refusal. She later discovered that the individual making the offer was already married, further underscoring the dishonest nature of the proposition.
Tessa, who has consistently spoken against color discrimination, reiterated the challenges faced by artists with darker complexions. She revealed receiving repeated advice to undergo skin whitening treatments to secure central roles in drama serials, highlighting a prevalent bias in casting decisions within the industry.
Currently, Janice Tessa remains squarely focused on her burgeoning career. While acknowledging that she does have an affection for someone, she clarified that marriage is not on her immediate horizon. Her priority, she stated, is to dedicate her efforts to her professional growth in the foreseeable future.
