Jamie Lee Curtis fiercely responded to paparazzi intrusion while filming the highly anticipated “Freakier Friday” sequel with co-star Lindsay Lohan. On Thursday, August 22, Curtis took to Instagram to express her frustration over candid photos taken by paparazzi, comparing her reaction to that of a protective mother.
“OK. Because other outlets have posted it, I am going to take advantage of the intrusion of a paparazzi picture into the creative process of filmmaking,” Curtis wrote in the caption of the now-circulating image on social media.
She continued, “We have tried so hard to keep our story a secret and private until it’s time for release, but once in a while, an image comes out, and it doesn’t tell you anything about the story or about what’s going on with the characters.”
However, Curtis also saw a silver lining, noting that the photo “shows the joy and fun that we had making #FREAKIERFRIDAY, and we know it will be the experience that you will have in the theatres next year.”
The 65-year-old actress ended her post with a playful reminder of the importance of cinema, writing, “Yes, you heard me… The theatres. The place we all go and enjoy a shared experience in the dark while munching popcorn and candy and laughing together and sometimes crying together,” before tagging Lohan, 38.
Lohan, who stars alongside Curtis in the sequel, showed her support in the comments with a series of heart emojis.
“Freakier Friday” is the long-awaited follow-up to the 2003 hit “Freaky Friday,” which featured Curtis and Lohan as a mother-daughter duo who accidentally swap bodies on a chaotic Friday.
