Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani, also known as Valentino, has left this world at the age of 93. He was a renowned designer in the fashion industry, famous for his exquisite and elegant creations. Valentino’s foundation announced his peaceful passing at his residence in Rome, surrounded by his family members. The news was shared on Instagram as well. Valentino was known for his opulent designs and luxurious evening gowns, which earned him global recognition. He was a favorite among Hollywood celebrities, royal families, and social elite for decades.
Valentino founded the Valentino Fashion Brand in 1960 and soon became one of the world’s top fashion designers, alongside the likes of Giorgio Armani and Karl Lagerfeld. His designs were worn by iconic figures such as Elizabeth Taylor, Begum Aga Khan, Queen Paola of Belgium, Audrey Hepburn, Joan Collins, and Jacqueline Kennedy, who even wore his design on her wedding day. Valentino’s funeral will be held on January 21 and 22 at the Manzoni mortuary in Rome, followed by a mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and Martyrs on January 23.
Valentino was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards in London’s Royal Albert Hall in December 2023.
