Israel’s ongoing invasion of the Gaza Strip, which began following Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023, has now surpassed 14 months. During this period, Israel has assassinated key Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Yahya Sinwar in southern Gaza.
In addition, Israel has targeted Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, with speculation that his successor might also become a target. Israel aims to establish “buffer zones” within Gaza, stating that it has no intention of slowing its operations until Donald Trump assumes office in January 2025.
A ceasefire with Lebanon was secured two months after Israel’s invasion, but it was quickly violated by Israel. In response, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Gallant, and Hamas leader Deif.
