The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) party, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, has expressed concerns about a potential conspiracy against madrasas, or Islamic schools, in the country. Speaking at a conference in Karachi’s Lyari area, Maulana Fazlur Rahman stated that the bureaucracy has rejected the proposal to create a joint curriculum for madrasas, leaving them vulnerable to threats from the government, bureaucracy, and industrialists.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman claimed that the perception is being created that madrasas are limiting the potential of young people. He asserted that the PTI government has only made a statement about chairing a negotiation committee, but has not established any contact.
The JUI-F chief stated that people’s minds are being filled with fears about madrasas, and they are not being informed about the purpose of these institutions. He emphasized that the madrasas have consistently advocated for a single curriculum and education system. In 2010, the madrasas accepted the government’s conditions.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman also mentioned that the 26th amendment brought about a law that was not prepared by the JUI-F. He stated that the philosophy of non-violence was introduced by Sheikh ul-Hind, and that the party has a strong position in politics. He added that the party wants a strong Pakistan, free from petty issues.
The JUI-F leader warned that any conspiracy against madrasas will not be successful. He pointed out that international scholars are promoting the version of Islam that is acceptable to the West. He referenced a statement made by former Prime Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who had stated that improving the education system and empowering young people was a top priority.
