Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah, has stated that if the provincial government of Punjab decides to take a different path in its struggle, then the federal government would also have to reassess its approach. In an interview with Geo News, Rana Sanaullah said that when the provincial government takes the law into its hands, the law would then decide its own course of action.
Rana Sanaullah claimed that one group has been trying to create chaos, anarchy, and unrest in the country. He stated that they say Islamabad will be captured or they will be sent in coffins back home, and asked if capturing Islamabad would be in the interest of the country and the nation. Rana Sanaullah further added that the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) has only one path, which is to revolt against the government and eliminate its opponents. He also stated that if the 9th May cases are not decided by 2025, then when would they be decided.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has attempted to open the door for negotiations four times, while on the other hand, the efforts being made are focused on what the government can do to facilitate these talks. Rana Sanaullah also expressed his skepticism about the PTI’s willingness to engage in negotiations, saying that they are not interested in finding a solution.
Rana Sanaullah stated that the government is ready to deal with any situation, but the country will not witness a situation where a group takes over Islamabad or engages in violent protests. He also questioned whether the PTI would stick to its current stance, saying that it is unclear whether they would adhere to the path laid out by their leader, Imran Khan.
