The second edition of the Islamabad Night Run, organized by the local running community, successfully brought together a significant number of runners, families, diplomats, and individuals from all segments of life in the capital. This unique running event featured both 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races, which were then followed by celebratory fireworks, dancing fountains, and a music show for the participants.
The designated route for the race was entirely within Park View City Islamabad. The event saw enthusiastic participation across various age groups, vividly demonstrating a spirit of unity and athleticism. In addition to runners from Islamabad, participants from Lahore and Karachi also joined the event. A considerable number of children also took part in the run, displaying remarkable effort with most completing the 5 km run under the stars.
In the 5 km category, Umer Zaman of Islamabad Run with Us secured the first position, while Athar Akhtar from Margalla Trail Runners came in second. Among the female runners, Anja Myrtveit was the first to cross the finish line, with Anna Hudson finishing second. In the 10 km category for male runners, Shehbaz Waris clinched first place, and Wiqar Ahmed from Margalla Trail Runners took the second spot. For the 10 km female finishers, Sultanat Sinbina was the top performer, followed by Farah Omer in second place. Winners were presented with prizes after the run.
Several running clubs in Islamabad, including Margalla Trail Runners, Islamabad Run with Us, and Islamabad Running Club, brought their teams to compete at the event. The second edition of the night run effectively showcased the synergy of sports and fitness with the festivity and vibrancy of the night. Its primary aim was to promote running activities within the capital. This edition also successfully united many new and experienced runners to participate together on a track at night. The event’s success was largely attributed to the generous support of the running community and the unwavering dedication of all participants, organizers, and volunteers.
