The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed a petition challenging the alleged illegal detention of a citizen. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the hearing.
Following a recess, the petitioner’s lawyer, Sher Afzal Marwat, appeared before the court. Earlier in the morning, the hearing was conducted in the presence of the Islamabad Inspector General (IG) of Police.
During the proceedings, the IG informed the court that the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Secretariat Police Station had been removed from their positions. He further stated that a letter had been sent to the Interior Secretary for the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The court was also informed that departmental action had been initiated and that allegations of corruption had been referred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further investigation.
Petitioner’s counsel, Sher Afzal Marwat, stated that they had no objection to the petition being dismissed. Following this, the court officially closed the case.
