ISLAMABAD— In the wake of the recent traumatic suicide attack, a crucial high-level meeting was convened to significantly reinforce the security perimeter of the District Courts Complex in Islamabad. The objective is to make the judicial heartland impervious to future threats and ensure the safety of all personnel.
According to sources, major decisions were taken to modernize the entry points. The complex will soon see the installation of scanners alongside the existing walk-through gates. Litigants will only be allowed to carry their belongings inside after they have passed through a rigorous security clearance via these new scanners.
To better manage the flow of people and enhance security processing time at the entrance, a zig-zag grill will also be installed. Furthermore, a proposal was tabled and accepted to deploy snipers on the rooftops of the District Courts Complex, a measure that reflects the high threat level and the need for immediate response capabilities against external threats.
In a proactive approach to emergency preparedness, lawyers will be provided with formal training and conduct mock drills to improve their response during a crisis. Special Branch personnel will also be deployed at the main entrances to ensure the search process is conducted with the highest efficiency and professionalism.
Prioritizing human life and rapid response, a recommendation was made for an ambulance to be permanently stationed outside the complex. To ensure complete focus from the security team, a ban will be imposed on the unnecessary use of mobile phones by the personnel deployed for security duties.
The critical meeting was attended by Islamabad High Court Judges Justice Azam Khan and Justice Inam Amin Minhas, District and Sessions Judges Nasir Javed Rana and Muhammad Yar Gondal, along with Islamabad High Court Bar President Wajid Geelani and Secretary Manzoor Jajja. These unified steps demonstrate a firm commitment to protecting the judiciary and guaranteeing the continuation of the legal process without fear.
