In the early hours of Tuesday, Iran initiated a new series of missile strikes targeting Israeli territory, as part of its declared retaliatory campaign against what it terms “continued Israeli aggression and violations.”
According to Israeli media, Iran conducted a strike near the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv. Following the attack, thick plumes of smoke were observed rising in the area, causing fear and panic in the city.
Furthermore, Iran’s IRGC stated that a new wave of missile attacks against occupied Palestine has commenced, described as “more powerful and impactful than before.”
The IRGC asserted that “the initiatives and capabilities employed in this operation… have resulted in the successful and maximum impact of the missiles on targets in the occupied territories.”
Iranian media reported that these strikes aimed at strategic and sensitive military and intelligence sites across Israel, including areas along the central coast.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently maintained that its military actions are acts of self-defense, following a series of Israeli attacks on Iranian soil, which include the recent assassination of senior Iranian commanders.
Video footage circulating on social media showed a projectile landing in a residential area of Ibthan, while in Herzliya, a bus was struck and caught fire in a parking lot.
Iranian officials claim these strikes demonstrate the country’s precision capabilities and serve as a deterrent against further Israeli incursions.
Iranian outlets emphasized that the attack was carefully calibrated to avoid civilian casualties while delivering a clear message to Tel Aviv. The country’s armed forces have reiterated that unless Israeli hostilities cease, further “measured and legitimate” responses will follow.
While Israel’s military confirmed missile interceptions and damage in several locations, emergency services reported no casualties from these specific strikes.
Iran, however, hailed the operation as a “strategic success” in disrupting Israeli security operations and signaling Tehran’s readiness to escalate if provoked.
21 Killed in Israeli Attacks on Iran’s Isfahan and Lorestan
Israel conducted strikes on Iran’s western province of Lorestan, resulting in the martyrdom of 21 civilians, as reported by international media, citing an Iranian member of Parliament.
Iran’s Mehr news agency is reporting that an Israeli projectile hit a checkpoint in the city of Kashan, in the central province of Isfahan, this morning, killing at least three people and wounding four others.
The agency quoted Akbar Salehi, deputy security officer to the governor of Isfahan.
The Tasnim and ISNA news agencies also reported on the deaths but provided no further details.
As previously reported, more than 220 people have been killed in Israel’s attacks on Iran, including at least 70 women and children.
Attack on Iran State TV
A staff member of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) was martyred following an Israeli airstrike that struck one of the broadcaster’s key buildings in Tehran.
Masoumeh Azimi, an employee at the IRIB secretariat, succumbed to injuries caused by the shockwave from the blast. The strike occurred on Monday during a live broadcast, targeting the building that houses IRIB’s news and political affairs department. At least four projectiles hit the facility, causing casualties and temporarily disrupting transmission.
Despite the chaos, news anchor Sahar Emami remained on air. As the building trembled, she courageously continued the broadcast, declaring “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great), a defiant moment that resonated widely on social media and drew attention to the attack on Iran’s national media.
Several other journalists inside the building were also injured. Shortly after the strike, IRIB’s news director and deputy for political affairs, Hassan Abedini, appeared live on air to denounce what he described as a “diabolic terrorist crime.”
Iran’s foreign ministry strongly condemned the assault, labeling it a “war crime,” and called on the United Nations to hold Israel accountable for targeting journalists and media infrastructure.
The Israeli Ministry of Military Affairs confirmed responsibility for the strike.
Since the escalation of violence in October 2023, Israel has been accused of systematically targeting media workers. Over 250 journalists have been reported killed in the Gaza Strip alone during this period.
The attack on IRIB is part of a broader Israeli military campaign that commenced early Friday, involving coordinated strikes across Iran, including Tehran. These strikes have reportedly led to the martyrdom of senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and numerous civilians, including women and children.
UN Chief and CPJ Condemn Israeli Strike on Iranian TV Channel
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrike on Iran’s state television channel, reiterating that journalists and medical personnel are protected under international law.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) also denounced the attack, warning that Israel’s previous actions—particularly the killing of nearly 200 journalists in Gaza—have emboldened further targeting of media across the region.
In a statement, the organization called for an immediate cessation of the bloodshed, stressing that attacks on journalists must cease and media professionals must be allowed to operate freely and safely.
