A METRO police lieutenant, Tarlisha James, is currently under investigation and has been placed on administrative leave.
The METRO Police Department confirmed that Lt. James is off duty following an incident involving an auto-pedestrian collision, which the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office is treating as a case of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Reportedly, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Monday at the Willowbend Apartments in the 9300 block of FM 1960 Bypass Road W. near Humble. Witnesses described the event as a deliberate act, with one resident reporting hearing tires screeching and yelling.
The victim was taken to the hospital, and while Precinct 4 referred to the individuals involved as “family members,” they declined to provide further details. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.
In response to inquiries, METRO police issued a statement confirming Lt. James’ administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome. She has also surrendered her law enforcement credentials.
Lt. James has dedicated her entire 17-year career to METRO, rising through the ranks and often representing the department in criminal investigations. Now, she finds herself embroiled in an ongoing investigation by Precinct 4, which may lead to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
METRO police stated that they are fully cooperating with the investigation and directing all further inquiries to the investigative agency.
