HPD reported the discovery of a decomposing body on Houston’s southwest side, leading to an investigation into the individual’s death. According to a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by the Houston Police Department, detectives responded to a call at 10:50 a.m. regarding a deceased person found on the side of the road in the 600 block of Holmes Road near Buffalo Speedway.
The body was found in a state of decomposition, and homicide detectives are currently on the scene. However, HPD did not provide any further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the person’s death. It remains unclear how long the body had been at the location or whether the individual was killed there.
The area where the body was discovered includes NRG Park, Astroworld, Lakes at 610, and Plaza del Oro, according to Neighborhood Safety Tracker data. Over the past 12 months, the data indicates three homicides, 1,183 assaults, and 99 robberies in the vicinity.
