An in-depth inquiry into the passing of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali has been initiated by a newly established six-person committee. Her decomposed remains were discovered in her Karachi apartment this week. The 32-year-old artist was found deceased on July 8 in a flat located in Defence Phase VI’s Ittehad Commercial area, where she had resided independently for the past seven years.
Her body was located when a bailiff, dispatched by the court, arrived to execute an eviction notice regarding overdue rental payments, following a case filed by the flat’s owner. According to the autopsy findings by Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed, the body was heavily decomposed, indicating that her death likely occurred eight to ten months prior.
A recent notification confirms that the investigative body is led by SP Clifton Imran Jagirani and includes SDPO Defence Aurangzeb Khattak, ASP Nida Junaid, SHO Gizri Muhammad Farooq, sub-inspector (SI) Muhammad Amjad, and IT branch constable Muhammad Adeel. This team is tasked with gathering information to ascertain if Humaira Asghar’s demise resulted from an accident, natural causes, self-harm, or potential foul play. The committee is required to provide daily updates on the investigation’s progress to the SSP South, the notification stated.
Separately, authorities have retrieved data from her electronic gadgets as the inquiry gains momentum. Investigators have successfully accessed her three mobile phones, a tablet, and a laptop. A significant breakthrough occurred when they found the passwords for these devices noted in a personal diary located in the room where the actress’s decomposing body was discovered, enabling them to retrieve the stored information.
Officials report that two individuals have already given statements, while two more have been called in for questioning. The police noted the actress’s frequent visits to a gym and a beautician. Investigators plan to interview her gym trainer and other close associates to reconstruct her final moments. Humaira’s financial activities and communication logs have also been examined; authorities noted a small contact list, which implies a tight-knit group of acquaintances.
Humaira initially gained widespread recognition through the reality show “Tamasha Ghar,” and subsequently cemented her reputation with her role in the movie “Jalaibee.” Her passing follows by less than three weeks the death of celebrated veteran actress Ayesha Khan (84), who was also discovered deceased in her flat in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area after neighbors reported an unpleasant odor to her family.
