Actress Kirsten Dunst, known for her roles in films like Interview with the Vampire and Melancholia, recently spoke about a common issue she faces: people mispronouncing her name. In an interview with Town and Country magazine, the 43-year-old actress revealed that she has “given up” correcting people and has been called everything from “criss-ten” to “ker-stin.”
“I mean, everyone messes up my name, so I give up,” she said. “I don’t care… I don’t blame people.”
Despite the confusion, Dunst has confirmed the correct way to say her name is “Keer-sten.” She noted that the mispronunciation happens everywhere, including in England and even on the set of her Swedish-produced movie, Melancholia, where people from various countries had trouble with it.
Dunst also recalled a time when she lacked the confidence to speak up for herself, sharing an anecdote from the set of the Spider-Man movie. She revealed that she was sometimes called “girly-girl” over the walkie-talkie as a joke, but never said anything to stop it.
Kirsten Dunst is married to actor Jesse Plemons, with whom she shares two sons, Ennis Howard and James Robert.
