In the wake of the recent fire that caused significant disruption at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, travelers can now breathe easier as international flight operations have resumed.
Airport Manager Nazir Ahmad Khan confirmed that the resumption of flights took place earlier today, with two inbound flights from Madinah—PK-761 and PK-757—successfully arriving at the airport.
This marks a major step toward restoring normalcy, as both flights were greeted by passengers upon arrival.
Federal Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif personally oversaw the restoration efforts at the airport and commended the quick response in addressing the damage caused by the fire. Minister Asif expressed satisfaction with the progress being made and emphasized the importance of swift action during such critical situations.
The fire, which broke out on Thursday, had initially disrupted international flight operations, raising concerns about delays, cancellations, and rescheduling.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority addressed these concerns, advising passengers to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and any changes to their travel plans.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and sincerely thank our passengers for their patience and understanding during this challenging time,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the commitment to ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
While operations are steadily returning to normal, authorities are continuing their efforts to fully restore the airport’s functionality and ensure smooth operations moving forward.
