A Pakistani court has ruled that Srbjot Kaur, an Indian woman who married a Pakistani man, will be allowed to return to India after her visa expires. Speaking to Geo News, Kaur’s lawyer, Ahmed Hassan Pasha, said that she will be sent back to India on a spouse visa, as she is not eligible to stay in Pakistan under the Foreigner’s Act 1946. Once in India, Kaur will apply for permanent residence.
According to sources, the Indian woman, who married a Pakistani man after converting to Islam, was being deported via the Wagah border after her visa expired. The couple’s friendship began on social media, and they eventually got married in Sheikhupura. Kaur converted to Islam and changed her name to Noor Fatima after arriving in Pakistan with a group of Sikh pilgrims in November 2016. Her visa was set to expire on November 13, but she chose not to return to India.
