The Punjab Police have arrested the parents of international gangster Goldy Brar in a 2024 extortion case. Shamsher Singh and Preet Pal Kaur, the parents of Goldy Brar, were taken into custody on Tuesday. According to Indian media reports, the arrested individuals were residing in their home in the Adish Nagar area of Mukerian district while their native place is in Fatehgarh Sahib district. This case was registered in 2024 based on a complaint filed by a resident of Mukerian.
The action against Goldy Brar’s parents is part of the ongoing crackdown on gangsters in the state. The Punjab Police have identified the network of around 1200 associates and 600 family members of 60 international gangsters, including Goldy Brar, who are based abroad. Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satinder Jeet Singh, had accepted responsibility for the murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. According to Indian media reports, Goldy Brar is currently based in the United States and had visited Canada on a study visa in 2017.
Goldy Brar was a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang but had parted ways with them last year to join the Brar, Rohit Gudara, and Kalajathi gang. The Indian government had declared Goldy Brar a terrorist in 2024 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, for his alleged involvement in illegal activities, smuggling of arms and explosives, and involvement in murder cases in India.
