India’s social media scene has been rocked by yet another controversy — this time involving influencer Tania Mittal, a former participant of Big Boss 19. A formal complaint has been filed against her, alleging that she misrepresented her lifestyle as excessively luxurious, misleading young audiences and promoting unrealistic aspirations.
According to the complaint lodged by influencer Faizan Ansari at the SSP’s office in Gwalior, Tania portrayed herself as the owner of a mansion “more beautiful than a five-star hotel.” She also frequently showcased international trips, claiming she travelled abroad merely “for baklava, lentils, and coffee.”
The allegations extend further — accusing Tania of deceiving several individuals, including her rumored partner Balraj, who now faces legal troubles as a result. The complainant stated that he personally travelled from Mumbai to Gwalior to provide evidence in the case.
This episode reignites debate over the blurred line between reality and illusion on social media. Experts warn that portraying a “perfect life” online can distort young people’s perceptions, fostering unrealistic expectations and raising ethical as well as psychological concerns.
