India has confirmed its intention to participate online in the upcoming meeting of trade ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Thursday.
As preparations for the high-level meeting proceed, senior officials from SCO member countries are engaged in discussions to finalize the meeting’s agenda. These deliberations are expected to extend into the following day to ensure a comprehensive agenda is established.
The SCO, which includes member states such as China, Russia, India, and Pakistan, serves as a key platform for regional cooperation.
On September 2, Pakistan extended an invitation to India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to attend the SCO Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Islamabad. The invitation was delivered through diplomatic channels.
Prior to this, on August 26, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited all heads of government from SCO member states, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in accordance with SCO protocol. However, Indian media reports suggest that Modi is likely to skip the Shanghai Cooperation Summit in Islamabad.
