India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is accused of orchestrating a campaign to assassinate six individuals in Pakistan since 2021. According to a report by The Washington Post, these killings resemble operations targeting Khalistan separatists in the United States and Canada.
The report claims that these killings were carried out not by Indian citizens but by Pakistani petty criminals or hired shooters from Afghanistan.
In 2022, one of such killings involved Zahoor Mistry, accused of murdering an Indian passenger during the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1999.
The Washington Post reported that a woman claiming to be Tanaz Ansari, who was later revealed to be an Indian intelligence official, was involved in targeting Mistry. The woman allegedly hired two Pakistanis and two Afghan citizens to execute the assassination.
Additionally, intelligence from the Pakistani side claims that Indian agents were involved in killing Syed Khalid Raza, who was active in Kashmir during the 1990s.
The report also mentions the involvement of RAW in the 2016 Pathankot attack, where Shahid Latif was assassinated by a group led by Muhammad Umair in Sialkot, Pakistan.
India’s foreign ministry has refused to respond to these allegations. However, previous accusations of RAW’s involvement in extrajudicial killings have been highlighted, particularly following the 2019 Pulwama attack.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated, particularly after Kulbhushan Yadav’s arrest in 2016 and the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in 2019.
