In the aftermath of the Lakewood Church shooting, law enforcement officers seized a total of 32 items from the home of the shooter, Genesse Moreno, located on Gulfstream Road in Conroe. Among the items collected were bullets, cartridges, bulletproof vests, and a magazine, according to an evidence log obtained by Eyewitness News on Thursday. The log was part of the documents sought through open-records requests following the tragic incident.
Law enforcement officers, including the FBI, executed a search warrant at Moreno’s residence in the immediate aftermath of the rampage. The search focused primarily on explosives, given the concerns expressed by investigators. According to documents obtained by , Moreno reportedly mentioned having a bomb before being shot and killed at Lakewood. Law enforcement personnel discovered substances consistent with the manufacturing of explosives at the scene, along with a cord that raised suspicions of being a detonation cord.
The evidence log also revealed that law enforcement recovered various items from Moreno’s home, including unknown substances, books, posters, notebooks, electronic devices, and a white mask with the inscription “Free Gaza Trump.” Additionally, writings with antisemitic content were found earlier in the week, along with a book titled “All Remainers are Neo-Nazis,” which had “Palestine” inscribed on Moreno’s weapon.
Meanwhile, Moreno’s former mother-in-law, Rabbi Walli Carranza, provided updates on the condition of her 7-year-old grandson, who was brought to the Lakewood attack and sustained serious injuries. According to Carranza’s Facebook post, the child lost a significant part of his frontal lobe and underwent multiple surgeries. She criticized the system for failing to prevent Moreno, who she stated had schizophrenia, from carrying out the attack.
