Hyderabad police have debunked misleading social media claims about a “free ride service” for women traveling alone at night. In a statement on platform X, the Hyderabad City Police clarified, “This is not true. Always verify facts from reliable sources before sharing. Spreading false information creates unnecessary panic and confusion.”
The false claims suggested that women unable to find transportation between 10 PM and 6 AM could request police assistance by calling helplines 1091 and 78370185555. According to the messages, a control room or PCR/SHO vehicle would provide free transport to their destination.
The police have urged the public to verify information from credible sources to avoid spreading false news, which can cause unnecessary fear and confusion.
