A primary source of frustration for smartphone users is the rapid depletion of their battery life. In reality, the culprits behind this battery drain are often a few popular, yet demanding, apps installed on your device.
There are numerous reasons why different apps consume battery power rapidly. For example, some applications inherently require a lot of processing power to function. Similarly, other apps constantly consume battery power through continuous operation of background data, location services, excessive notifications, and widgets.
How to Identify Battery-Draining Apps
It is not complicated to find out which apps are consuming the most battery power:
- To start, navigate to your phone’s Settings menu.
- Select the Battery option.
- Go to the Battery Usage section.
- Here, a detailed list will show what percentage of the battery has been used by installed apps over the last 24 hours.
How to Prevent These Apps from Draining the Battery
Deleting these apps is not always the ideal solution, as often, the crucial apps cannot be removed. However, other steps can be taken to improve battery life:
- Turn Off Location Services: Disabling Location Services when not needed can prevent various apps from consuming battery power in the background.
- Disable Unnecessary Permissions: Go to the Apps section in Settings, then select Permissions, and disable any permissions that you deem unnecessary for the app’s core function.
- Turn Off App Notifications: Disabling notifications for non-essential apps can also improve battery life to some extent.
- Use Battery Saving Modes: Utilizing the various Battery Saving Modes available on your phone can yield better results.
- Control Background Data: Turning off background data usage helps reduce battery consumption. This is not possible for all apps universally; you often have to go into each app’s Battery Usage settings to manually turn off Background Usage.
