Houston : In the U.S. city of Houston, Ali Shekhani, elected on the Republican Party ticket as Constable for Precinct 3, has honored his campaign promise by donating his initial salaries to charitable causes. Following his swearing-in, Shekhani donated his first three months’ salary to various American nonprofit organizations. To mark this initiative, a formal ceremony was held at the Precinct 3 office, attended by local NGOs, community leaders, and notable figures from both the Pakistani and American communities. During the event, each NGO received checks amounting to more than $4,500, which collectively translate to several million Pakistani rupees.

Ali Shekhani, who is not only a public servant but also a successful businessman, stated in his address: “I made a promise to the people that during my four-year term, I would donate my entire salary — which exceeds $600,000 — to more than 100 American NGOs. This money belongs to the people, and it should be spent on the people.” His spirit of service has been widely appreciated by both the American and Pakistani communities. According to observers and critics alike, Shekhani’s initiative is not only a shining example of public service but also sets a positive and commendable precedent in American politics.
