HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Here comes the triple-digit heat!
Houston’s high hit 96 Tuesday for the first time this year, and that’s going to be the coolest high temperature for the rest of the week.
Temperatures Wednesday morning will barely dip below 80. After the morning clouds thin out temperatures will make a sprint toward 97.
How hot will it get later this week?
Hot enough to challenge records Thursday through Monday. Temps will soar into the triple digits by the end of the work week. Thankfully the humidity won’t be too high, so the heat index may peak around 104. A heat index of 108 normally triggers a Heat Advisory.
When is our next chance for rain?
The next chance comes late Saturday as a weak front approaches Southeast Texas. At this time, it looks like rain chances will be no higher than 20%, and first it will get blazing hot before there’s any chance for a cooling downpour.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
We are tracking another large Saharan dust cloud moving across the Atlantic. No tropical activity is expected this week because of the dry, dusty air, but the Bay of Campeche could end up active again by the end of next week.
