A 67-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Farmers Branch last week, prompting a plea from police for assistance from the public.
The incident occurred on Friday, May 10, around 9:19 p.m. in the 2300 block of Valley View Lane. According to Farmers Branch Police, the victim was crossing the street on Valley View Lane near Interstate 35 when a driver in a dark-colored SUV struck her in the far right of the eastbound lane.
The collision resulted in the woman being thrown approximately 50 feet, causing severe injuries, including a broken pelvis and a brain injury. She underwent brain surgery on Monday and remains in critical but stable condition at Parkland Health, according to authorities.
Surveillance footage of the area where the incident occurred was released by authorities on Tuesday. The video captures the moment when the SUV collides with the victim, briefly stops, and then drives away.
In their efforts to identify the hit-and-run driver and a potential witness whose vehicle was behind the suspect, Farmers Branch Police have shared images with the public.
