Recent allegations have surfaced against a Tarrant County caretaker, already facing charges of neglect and murder. According to an affidavit obtained by NBC 5, Arlington police began investigating Regla Suyu Becquer, aged 50, and her unlicensed assisted living company, Love and Caring for People LLC, following reports of neglect, theft, and fraud.
During the investigation, police identified 20 individuals who passed away while residing in multiple properties operated by Becquer across Tarrant County. Authorities are collaborating with the medical examiner’s office to determine if any of these deaths are suspicious.
One victim, 61-year-old Steven Pankratz, was found to have died from a homicide due to a lethal combination of opiates and anti-depressants. Becquer faces charges related to his murder, following previous charges of abandoning and endangering a disabled individual.
The affidavit details multiple instances dating back to 2022 where clients allegedly suffered neglect, theft, or abuse under Becquer’s care. It describes a troubling pattern, including allegations that Becquer administered substances to prevent clients from leaving and mishandled medications.
The investigation also revealed financial irregularities, including allegations of forged documents and theft from patients’ accounts. Becquer is currently held on multiple charges, including murder, with additional charges anticipated as the investigation continues.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to Becquer’s operations or who may have been affected to contact a dedicated tip line established by the Arlington Police Department.
