Hundreds of generous individuals have already stepped up to support teachers during the first-ever Share Your School Supplies Drive, sponsored by Citgo.
On Friday morning, Eyewitness News anchors and reporters spread out across the region to collect school supply donations in partnership with the Houston Food Bank’s Teacher Aid program.
By 4:15 p.m., the drive had raised $19,943.28, with many individual donations still being tallied in Houston, Galveston, Richmond/Rosenberg, Spring, and Sugar Land.
Donations of new school supplies can be dropped off at designated locations until 6 p.m.
You can also contribute online by clicking here or by texting “SYSS2024” to 71777.
Last year, Texas educators spent over $300 million of their own money on essentials like pencils, folders, and notebooks to help their students succeed.
