Roads and Neighborhoods in Several Cities Affected, Citizens Urged to Take Precautions
Saudi Arabia is experiencing unusual heavy rains and flooding, which have submerged streets and neighborhoods in several cities. The National Meteorological Center issued alerts on Tuesday, including a red alert for Mecca and Medina.
High Alerts and Government Measures
The red alert has been issued for the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as parts of the eastern region. An orange alert has been declared for the capital Riyadh, central Saudi Arabia, and the southwestern provinces of Asir and Jazan. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures due to the likelihood of more rain.
The Red Crescent Authority announced that its relief teams are fully operational to ensure ambulance services and immediate aid delivery.
Citizens Urged to Exercise Caution
Saudi authorities have specifically warned citizens to stay away from areas prone to water accumulation, such as valleys and low-lying areas. Videos circulating on social media show rising water levels on roads, with vehicles being swept away during the floods.
