The dengue fever situation remains a concern in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, where an additional 10 new cases have been reported over the past 24 hours. Of these new cases, 7 originate from rural areas and 3 from urban sectors. The total number of dengue patients currently under treatment in various hospitals has risen to 44.
Cases emerged from Tralai (3), G-7 and Tramri (2 each), and E-11, Sohan, and Rawat (1 each). Dengue surveillance teams have swiftly visited the affected areas and identified active hotspots.
Intensification of Control Measures:
Following directives from the Federal Health Minister, anti-dengue measures are being accelerated. A total of 45,306 anti-dengue activities have been completed across Islamabad. During these operations, dengue larvae were recovered from 2 positive commercial hotspots and 335 homes, leading to strict administrative actions. Furthermore, fogging was carried out at 1,062 locations, and operations were intensified in high-risk areas. Spraying was conducted at the homes of 22 confirmed patients and 1,073 surrounding residences. This joint campaign by the District Health Office, DHS, and District Administration is ongoing.
Situation in Rawalpindi:
In the neighboring city of Rawalpindi, the change in weather conditions is beginning to curb the spread of dengue mosquitoes. 14 new dengue-positive patients were reported in the last 24 hours. Throughout the current year, 21,617 citizens in Rawalpindi district have been tested, with 1,423 confirmed dengue cases to date. Currently, 27 patients are receiving treatment, and no fatalities have been reported.
