HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are investigating after a 19-year-old was discovered dead inside a bullet-riddled car on the Eastex Freeway feeder road Monday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 12900 block of the northbound feeder road at the intersection of Lauder Road and the Eastex Freeway at approximately 9:15 a.m.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Jusnz Joseph, was found in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. HCSO confirmed the incident resulted from a drive-by shooting.
Officials reported that a dark-colored SUV or crossover vehicle approached the victim’s car at the intersection with Lauder Road and fired several shots before fleeing.
SkyEye captured footage of officials examining the red Cadillac, which was left in the middle of the road. Live images showed bullet holes in the front and back windshields and along the roof above the shattered rear window.
No suspect description has been provided, and HCSO has not confirmed any connection between the victim and the suspects. Sgt. Jason Brown of HCSO stated, “We don’t have a suspect description yet. We are reviewing video in the area and have some decent footage of the shooting, so we are working to follow the vehicle for better views.”
While it is unclear if this incident was due to road rage, authorities are considering all possibilities. “It doesn’t really appear to be road rage, but that remains to be determined,” Brown added. “It could be targeted towards this person, so time will tell.”
