NEW DELHI – Garima Garg, the wife of the late acclaimed Indian singer Zubeen Garg, has shared a final handwritten note from her husband, deepening the sense of grief and mystery surrounding his death. Garg, an icon from Assam, was found dead in Singapore on September 19, leaving millions of his fans in mourning.
The letter, which Garima shared on Instagram, was originally written by Zubeen on September 15 as part of a promotional campaign for his final film, “Ruwai Ruwai Binale,” set for release on October 31.
The handwritten note read: “Just wait… My new film is coming. You must come to watch. With love, Zubeen da.”
What was intended as a message of film promotion has now become a haunting final word.
In her emotional post, Garima wrote, “The letters you wrote on the 15th of September… A message full of love for your dear people! Every word touches the heart, Goldie. But a fire is burning in the void of my heart… What happened on the 19th of September? How? Why? Until I get the answers to these questions, it feels hard to even breathe.”
The circumstances of Zubeen’s death—found floating near an island in Singapore where he was scheduled to perform—remain shrouded in mystery, with recent reports suggesting suspicions of poisoning and the arrest of a fellow singer.
The film’s director, Rajesh Bhuyan, stated that releasing the movie, in which Zubeen plays a blind musician, was his “dream” and is now their “biggest responsibility.” Zubeen Garg’s career spanned over 30 years, during which he sang in more than 40 languages.
