Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has responded to concerns raised over the quality of Hindi commentary during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
A cricket fan had pointed out that Hindi commentary in the past, led by Maninder Singh and Arun Lal, was more insightful, whereas the current panel, which includes Virender Sehwag, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, and Ambati Rayudu, among others, relied heavily on sarcasm and one-liners, making it difficult for viewers to stay engaged with the game.
Taking the feedback in stride, Harbhajan, who is part of the Hindi commentary team, responded on social media, saying, “Thank you for the input. We will work on it.”
The IPL’s Hindi commentary panel for the 2025 season also features Mohammad Kaif, Piyush Chawla, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Sanjay Manjrekar, Sanjay Bangar, Varun Aaron, Sunil Gavaskar, Ajay Jadeja, Jatin Sapru, Anant Tyagi, Saba Karim, Deep Dasgupta, and Aakash Chopra.
Meanwhile, the tournament has started on an explosive note, with 119 sixes recorded in the first five matches.
In the latest fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a narrow victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) by 11 runs, defending their first-innings total of 243/5.
Led by captain Shreyas Iyer, Punjab displayed an aggressive batting approach, while head coach Ricky Ponting’s tactical decisions proved decisive in restricting Gujarat’s chase, despite a strong effort from Shubman Gill’s side.
The IPL caravan now moves to Guwahati, where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by Ajinkya Rahane, are set to face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Stadium on Wednesday.
