Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan, aiming to revolutionize agriculture and provide farmers with comprehensive agricultural facilities under one roof.
Speaking at the event, Gen Munir hailed Punjab as Pakistan’s agricultural powerhouse and praised the leadership and farmers for their efforts in modern agriculture. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to economic development and appreciated the Punjab government’s Green Corporate Initiative, calling it a promising step forward.
The Green Pakistan Initiative is a joint effort between the government and the Pakistan Army to boost agricultural development.
During the launching ceremony, the Green Agri Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre were inaugurated.
The Green Agri Mall and Service Company will provide farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides at discounted rates, delivered to their doorsteps. Additionally, agricultural machinery, including drones, will be available on affordable rental terms.
A 5,000-acre state-of-the-art agricultural farm will serve as a model for modern agricultural techniques, using advanced irrigation systems to promote water-efficient farming and maximize productivity.
The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will provide necessary tools and laboratory services such as soil testing. This center will collaborate with agricultural institutions across Pakistan to further strengthen research in the agricultural sector.
Addressing the event, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that this initiative marks a new beginning for the growth of Punjab’s farmers. She emphasized that agricultural progress is directly linked to farmers’ prosperity and national development.
She also distributed land allotment letters to the families of martyrs and war-injured individuals and praised the Green Pakistan Initiative for introducing modern agricultural practices in Pakistan.
