The greater Houston area is gradually recovering from power outages following severe thunderstorms, as indicated by a CenterPoint Energy outage tracker.
During the peak of the outages, over 26,000 customers were without power. However, the number has since decreased to less than 23,000.
The La Porte Office of Emergency Management (OEM) explained on X, previously known as Twitter, that a widespread outage on the east side of town was triggered by a fallen tree on powerlines.
CenterPoint has been alerted, but the timeline for restoration remains uncertain, according to OEM.
Emergency Management reassured that they will continue to monitor the situation closely.
