Jasmine Moore achieved her goal at the Paris Olympics, leaving as an Olympic medalist.
“I’m just so thankful,” Moore expressed after her victory lap. “It was amazing having my family here to witness this.”
The Mansfield Lakeridge High School alum secured the bronze medal with a season-best jump of 14.67.
“I give all glory to God. When I saw I had won, I tried to stay composed, but I really wanted to cry. I’m just so thankful,” Moore said.
Moore made history as the first American woman to compete in both the triple jump and long jump at the same Olympics.
“I almost didn’t do both. Just two weeks before the Olympics, I started asking my coach if I should focus on just one event instead of both. So, I’m very thankful, especially having my whole family here, Coach Knit, Coach Matt, and all my support system, even back home in DFW, Coach Jones, Coach Kenny. I could shout out everyone, but I’m just super thankful for all the support,” Moore added.
Qualifications for the women’s long jump are set to begin on August 6.
